After a reflective and enriching half-day tour in Hiroshima, I hopped back on the Shinkansen and headed straight to the bustling city of Osaka to continue my journey. Here's how the rest of Day 4 unfolded — filled with neon lights, street food, and a comfortable stay.
🏨 Check-in: APA Hotel & Resort Midosuji Hommachi Eki Tower
I arrived in Osaka by late afternoon and checked in at APA Hotel & Resort Midosuji Hommachi Eki Tower. The hotel is conveniently located near the subway station, making it a great base for exploring Osaka. The check-in was smooth, and the room was compact but cozy — typical of business hotels in Japan. Plus, the building offers an amazing city view if you’re on a higher floor! After freshening up and dropping my luggage, it was time to explore the vibrant Osaka night scene.
🎉 Dotonbori Adventure: Lights, Food, and Famous Signs
A short walk led me to Dotonbori, Osaka’s entertainment and food district famous for its neon signs and the legendary Glico Running Man billboard. The canal-side view at night is nothing short of electric!
I didn’t just come for the sights — I came for the street food.
🍢 Osaka Street Food Highlights:
Takoyaki (Octopus Balls): Hot, gooey, and topped with bonito flakes — a must-try.
Okonomiyaki: A savory Japanese pancake loaded with toppings. I grabbed one from a street-side stall and ate it on a bench near the canal.
Kushikatsu: Deep-fried skewers with dipping sauce — simple but satisfying.
Melon Pan Ice Cream: For dessert, I couldn’t resist this warm bun with cold ice cream inside. Perfect ending to my food adventure.
💤 Wrapping Up the Day
After enjoying the bustling streets and flavors of Osaka, I headed back to my hotel. The day was long but incredibly fulfilling — from the peaceful morning in Miyajima, a reflective visit to the Atomic Bomb Dome, and a fun, lively evening in Dotonbori.
