🇯🇵 Fukuoka Day 2: Giant Buddhas, First Ichiran Ramen & a Gundam Encounter

Waking up to another beautiful day in Fukuoka, I was ready for a mix of spiritual calm and geeky excitement. Day 2 started off with a journey a bit outside the city center to visit the peaceful and awe-inspiring Nanzoin Temple.

🛕 Nanzoin Temple
This temple is famous for housing one of the world’s largest bronze reclining Buddha statues, and let me tell you – it's massive. Nestled in the hills near Sasaguri, getting there felt like an adventure itself.

The surrounding area was quiet and lush, and walking through the temple grounds felt serene and spiritual. The sheer scale of the Buddha left me speechless – it’s both humbling and peaceful. Definitely a must-see if you're in Fukuoka.

🍜 First Time at Ichiran Ramen
After the temple visit, it was time to tick off a true Fukuoka bucket list experience – Ichiran Ramen, the city’s most iconic tonkotsu ramen shop. It was my first time, and I finally understood the hype. The solo dining booths, the customizable ramen options, and that rich, creamy pork broth… it was a food moment to remember. Ichiran in Fukuoka just hits different – it’s like tasting the original soul of ramen.

🤖 LaLaport & Gundam in Fukuoka
To end the day, I made my way to LaLaport Fukuoka, home to the incredible life-sized Gundam statue – the RX-93ff ν Gundam. Whether you're a fan of the anime or not, seeing a massive robot standing tall in the plaza is something you won’t forget. I stayed for the scheduled movement show, where the Gundam actually moves its head and parts light up with music. Pure childhood dreams coming to life.
