Day 3 in Fukuoka: A European Escape, Lakeside Serenity, and a New Travel Toy

My third day in Fukuoka was one for the books — a perfect blend of adventure, relaxation, and a little tech upgrade to cap it all off.

Morning: A Scenic Ride with the JR Pass

The day started bright and early as I made my way to Huis Ten Bosch for a day trip. Thanks to the JR Pass, I was able to hop on the Limited Express train, which made the journey not only smooth and convenient, but also scenic. Riding through the lush landscapes of Kyushu felt like a mini adventure in itself. I can’t recommend the JR Pass enough if you're planning to cover a lot of ground in Japan — it's a game changer.

Huis Ten Bosch: A Dutch Dream in Japan

Arriving at Huis Ten Bosch felt like stepping into a different world. The Dutch-inspired theme park is full of charming canals, tulip gardens, windmills, and European-style buildings that make you forget you're still in Japan. I spent a few hours strolling through the park, snapping photos of the picturesque views, trying out Dutch-style snacks, and soaking in the surreal atmosphere. It’s whimsical, beautiful, and honestly quite unlike anywhere else I’ve visited in Japan. Entrance Ticket

Afternoon: Unwinding at Ohori Park

After returning to Fukuoka in the afternoon, I headed straight to Ohori Park — one of the city’s most beloved green spaces. It was the perfect way to unwind after the hustle and bustle of the theme park. I walked the path that circles the large pond, watched paddle boats glide by, and even paused at a few shaded spots just to sit and take in the calm. The contrast between the morning's fantasy and the park’s serenity was exactly what I didn’t know I needed.

Evening: A New Travel Companion – Insta360 GO

To end the day on an exciting note, I finally picked up the Insta360 GO — a tiny yet powerful action camera I’ve been eyeing for a while. It’s going to be a game-changer for documenting my travels in a more immersive and dynamic way. I can’t wait to put it to use in the days to come.
